My name is Darrell Davis. I'm an AI governance consultant and strategist based in Columbia, South Carolina.

For seven years, I've worked on the front lines of enterprise technology at the University of South Carolina, supporting more than 400 instructional spaces and large-scale hybrid learning infrastructure.

That experience gave me a perspective that shapes how I approach AI governance today. I've watched firsthand how technology actually lands inside organizations: the gaps nobody planned for, the workarounds people quietly build, and the distance that can emerge between policy and what happens in practice.

I'm currently completing a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Innovation at Wake Forest University, with an expected completion date of May 2027.

I designed and developed Garnet AI Project Intake, a guided tool that helps University of South Carolina faculty and staff turn early AI ideas into structured, policy-aware project proposals. The tool incorporates institutional data-classification guidance, directs compliance questions to the appropriate university resources rather than attempting to make compliance determinations, and was accepted into USC's Garnet & Black GPT Collection.

In March 2026, I served as a poster judge at USC AI Day, a statewide event that brought together students, faculty, staff, campus partners, and invited institutions around the practical and responsible use of artificial intelligence. I evaluated cross-disciplinary AI research presented during the event's poster session.

What I do sits at the intersection of responsible AI adoption, operational readiness, and institutional trust. I'm not here to sell abstract strategy or produce another policy document that sits on a shelf. I build practical governance structures, controls, and tools that organizations can actually put to work.
